Vietnam visa question

JJ,
The easiest way is to use the 'visa on arrival' system. This is if you are flying into VN. Read my blog entry:
"Off to SaiGon".

If you are entering VN via land border, your best bet is to buy it in Cambodia. You can get your VN visa in either Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville for $30-35 in one day. A 30 day VN visa should be $25. It is at the Landing Desk if you fly in, but not if you buy it in another country. The price varies according to country and how fast you want it. The US charges $40. Thailand will charge you between $40-60 depending on how fast you want it. Laos is also expensive, figure around $50 for a 30 day visa in 3 days. You can buy it in the UK before you leave, but you must tell them when you will arrive at their border. The countdown starts on the day you put down on your application, NOT when you actually arrive at the VN border. If you are not sure when you will hit VN, wait until you are in a neighboring country to buy your VN visa.

Good luck with your planning.

Adding to vegasmike advice: I'm intending to visit VN next year. I recently read a post from a fellow Aussie stating their visa in Aust. cost $75. As I intend to spend a week in Cambodia before I enter VN I will get my visa there, much cheaper option. Certainly check the cost of the visa in the UK and then you can compare costs.

Ive just got 3 months single entry for $55 from here http://www.visa-vietnam.org/

I used them last year and had no problems .

We applied to the Vietnam embassy in London. We found it easy to get a visa before we travelled.

Take a look at the website.

http://www.vietnamembassy.org.uk/consular.html

I think it was around £30 for a single entry, if we had got a muliple entry we could have travelled to Cambodia, or other countries then re entered Vietnam.

I think you had to tell the consular when you expected to reach Vietnam then you had 30 days in which to have made use of the visa.

No need to use embassy in your own country now.
Just use the online visa on arrival its a lot cheaper and quick, no need to sent passport off either .

If you are traveling to Cambodia etc you can just get one there quick and cheap before you enter Vietnam .
I`m not a huge fan of giving my passport out and receiving it back few days later with the stamp (you just worry)
so online i think is the best way, that`s why its there .
