Would anyone know which is the best hostel in Toronto? Global Village or IH. One is on the east, the other the west and we would like to be in the nicest one? closest to the Toronto attractions?

Thank you so much for responding to me! This is my first time on here. No, I am trying to decide which hostel is better for my mom's caregiver. She is going on the www.moosenetwork.com tour of Ontario and Quebec in Sept for 13 days and staying in the "hostel" for 3 nights when her tour is over.
I can either book her into the Global Backpackers Village on Spadina and King, or the HI hostel on the East side. I forget the address now but if you go to this site, http://www.moosenetwork.com/tours_canada_east.php, they show the hostels and I am just trying to decide for her, East of West. I know the HI hostel is quieter than the other one, but dont know the Toronto area at all.

I can really recommend Clarence Castle, its just off Spadina on a little square and has a great view of the CN Tower, free breakfast, towels, sheets etc and is quite reasonable in price. Me and my friend stayed there in September and loved it, couldnt fault it at all! Its just down the road from the Global Backpackers.
I sent Bron a PM, but thought I would share with the group as well. Both hostels are well situated for tourists. HI is only a block from the King subway station, and Global Backpackers is on the Spadina street car line. It is probably only a 20 minute walk between the two, and both are very central.
I've never stayed, but judging by the people I have seen coming in and out of the hostels, I would say that Global Backpackers is a younger crowd, more the gap-year party scene. HI seems more varied - I have even seen families staying there.

I think this site is so great!! Thanks again all of you!!!! If anyone needs help with the Cayman Islands, I would be glad to help! Lived there half my life and if you are into the Caribbean, it's beautiful. Only thing is, there are no darn hostels there and it's not for the "budget" traveller!
