Hi needing some help from you guys and girls:
In San Diego, there is a place called "Good Night Inn" just south of Mission Bay and west of Old Town. It's like $49 a night for two people.
In Huntington Beach (LA Area), I'd try the Costa Mesa/Newport Hacienda Travelodge, which runs about $53 on hotels.com for two to three people in a room. If anybody else has cheaper places still pretty close to the beach, let mintynw7 know.

Thank you very much for the help and advice :D
Will have a look at those places. Any other advice or help would be great too!
If anyone wants to rent 2 rooms out for a week in LA for 5 people let me know.....
HI I LIVED IN L.A FOR 52 YEARS I WOULD SAY TRY EL SEGUNDO AREA INSTEAD OF ORANGE COUNTY. THAT AREA IS VERY HIGH. SOUTH BAY IS MUCH CHEAPER AND NICER. YOU HAVE REDONDO BEACH, HERMOSA, MANHATEN BEACH. THEN A FEW MILES NORTH MARINA DEL-REY AND THEN SANTA MONICA THEN MALIBU. ORANGE COUNTY BEACHES ARE HIGH UNLESS YOU JUST HAVE STAY IN THE AREA. SANTA MONICA HAS A FREE BOARDWALK AREA WITH RIDES FOR KIDS AND ADULTS. ALSO VENICE BEACH IS RIGHT NEXT TO IT. ALSO SANTA MONICA HAS THE THIRD STREET PROMINADE WITH GOOD OUT DOOR ENTERTAINMENT AND SHOPPING. GOODLUCK SKYCAPNEWS - "KNOW BEFORE YOU GO"
I too am interested in spending a little time in these areas......................i was thinking of renting a beach house/apartment for a week up to a month.
Does anybody have any tips on how id actually go about this? and if anybody had an idea on prices etc, ive had a brief search on the internet with no success.
