i'd like to visit new zealand this december for a month. by then, my baby will be 15 months. has anyone done something like this before? are there any child-friendly hostels? also, any advice for places to visit that are children friendly...i'd like to see as much of the country as possible.
anyone?
Hello, I'm a New Zealander myself and have seen the odd traveller with their baby on their back, so you're not alone!! I'd say theres definitely child-friendly hostels throughout the country - avoid the bigger, newer hostels which tend to be more popular with the single party crowd, look for YHA's and smaller hostels. Theres plenty to do around the country that you and your child could enjoy together. If you'd like any specific advice feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help Also, go you for getting out there with your baby!
Even if the owners don't mind kids, a 15 month old child - that will need almost constant attention if it's to stay happy - means a lot more pressure on you if it's to fit in with other residents. What about child friendly family stays? Easier on you both and with the possibility of an extra pair of hands even.
just had a thought. what about a camper van for total independence? sorry if that sounds a bit much, but i'm biased towards the road.
