Help? Cambodia/Vietnam/Thailand?

Hi.

You have plenty of money for 40 days in SEA. I figure most visitors to all 3 of these countries will spend around $50/day for the essentials. That is $2K, plenty of margin for extras or problems. I found rooms in VN & Cam for right at $10/day, Laos is just as cheap. Add $10/ for food, $10/day for transport, you still have $20 for tours, drink, extras.

I would go overland from BKK to Siem Reap. is a good resource for that section and all things Cambodia. Heaps of information on Gordon's website. from SR to Phnom Penh. Bus much cheaper. Many companies to choose from to get to S'ville. You can buy your VN visa while in S'ville. Cheap and fast. covers the HCMC to PP leg and VN up to Nha Trang. Again, many to choose from. Mekong Express has a good reputation for this leg. After seeing HCM, I vote you use the open tour bus system to go all the way to HaNoi. At least 4 companies run the open tour,
is the best one IMO. Or Hanh Cafe, a bit cheaper, stops at cheaper hotels all the way north. Your decision. All travel shops in HCM can help you with this. I would avoid T-M Bros. Or you can use the for several overnight legs. Safer, less convenient, more expensive

After VN, you can fly into Laos or take a very long bus ride. Never been to Laos, so others can help out here. Cross into Thailand at the Friendship Bridge, back to BKK and out.

Good luck with your planning and send me a PM if you have VN or Cambodia questions.
