In regards to your question about tavel outside of what is offered n the RTW ticket then of course go fo it!, im planning my trip at the end of the year and my ticket will go uk-oz-Nz-singapore-bangkok-uk, however when i reach singapore i will be tavelling off my own accord round malaysia, thailand, laos, vietnam, cambodia before going to bangkok again to fly home. To do this i will be travelling by train as much as possible and may also use cheap internal flights using airasia.

Jo

You will be able to fly back to the chosen hub to move on, but of course that is down to you and it won't be included in your RTW ticket cost.
For instance, take the example of an Australian coming to Europe. Their route is Sydney, Cairo, Amsterdam then on to the USA. They could get a budget flight from Schiphol to Manchester and back, then continue on to the USA. The RTW provider wouldn't be interested in other routes. It's just up to you to make sure that your RTW ticket allows you time to do extra unplanned days, before moving on.
