How were you getting to Vegas?
Days 6-9 and 10-13 are all sight seeing in LA?

Correct (draft) plan:
Day 1 Fly from LDN to NYC
Days 2-5 Sightseeing
Day 5 Fly from NYC to Vegas
Days 6-8 Sightseeing
Day 8 Overnight stay at Grand Canyon (or day trip on helicopter)
Day 9 Drive to LA (hope to arrive early evening)
Day 10-13 Sightseeing (a few tours / Beverley hills
Day 14 Fly from LA to Hawaii
Day 15-19 spend on Maui / Kauai
Day 20 Fly from Hawaii to LDN

To save money, I would recommend a NY pass while you are in New York. You can visit all the major attractions with it. Statue of Liberty, Top of the Rock, Empire State Building, etc. For Top of the Rock and Empire State Building, I would recommend going to one in the day and one at night so you can see NYC at both times.
Definitely go to a broadway show. If you go to the box office the day of you can sign up for a draw to get cheap tickets for that evening.
Go watch a talk show! Request tickets as far in advance as you can. David Letterman would be good!
To save money on accomodations, I recommend subleting someones apartment, but be REALLY careful with bedbugs. It's a major problem in NY.
If you are going to be there before christmas, definitely go to the ice rink in Central Park(warning: you'll have to wait a while) and go see the big christmas tree.

This works, but it will take at least 2 to 3 hours to get from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, and then day 9 will be a long one since it is about 500 miles (and a minimum 8 hour drive) to get from the Grand Canyon to Los Angeles (meaning arriving early evening doesn't work--especially if you will be fighting the famous LA rush hour traffic at that time).
I suggest planning on getting to LA at 7 PM or later that day to avoid the traffic--and plan your leave time accordingly.
Other than that, the rest of the trip works fine.
