Traveling to Australia

Hi,
A couple of my friends(5 of them) are planning a week's trip to Australia by the month of May.Any tips regarding this?
Cheap and affordable places to stay, best places to view etc. Also is May the right season to travel also?

I don't think a week is long enough. You won't even scratch the surface. Albeit the world's smallest continent, you won't think so when you get there. In the north of the country, Cairns, Darwin etc. you won't really notice much difference between May and December, but you will in the south. May as almost mid-winter and it can be pretty nippy. Sydney in December is sunbathing weather, whereas in May it certainly isn't. It can still get into the 70's, but in Nov/Dec it's much hotter. You won't notice much different up north all year round. It's between 80f and 90f nearly all the time, regardless of what time of year you go.
As far as a room is concerned, what's your destination? I'm assuming in just a week, you're not planning to travel too far.

I'd agree with Flying Bob - a week is a very short time in oz considering you're coming all the way from USA... what sort of things are you hoping to see/do?
