budget hotel accommodation in malaysia/ thailand

i would like to visit Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand from 3rd June 2010.
My itinerary will be
Reach Singapore on 4th June Morning at 0705 Hrs.
Tour Singapore from 4th to 8th
Leave for Malaysia KUL on 9th. stay at malaysia from 9th to 14th
then leave for bangkok. stay in thailand will be from 14th - 19th june.

As for Bangkok, you can go to Khaosan Road and also Soi Rambuttri. There are plenty of budget hotels/guesthouses in that area.

Hi Bala, I would cut out a day from Singapore and add it to Malaysia. Where in Malaysia are you planning on going and what (roughly) is your budget? I stayed in Melaka, Cameron Highlands and Penang. I had a day in KL but stayed at Tunes Hotel at LCCT.

Singapore will be the most expensive for hotels, then KL and Thailand probably the cheapest. How much per night do you want to spend on a room in Singapore, KL and Bangkok? In Malaysia Penang will be cheaper than KL unless you plan on flying everywhere and skipping the smaller cities.

In Bangkok you can also get hotels in the Sukhumvit Road area and make use of the Skytrain overhead rail service. Hotels with air can be found from around 600 baht on up to 6000 baht. These rooms will have air, hot water, private toilet, TV and maid service. The less you spend the less fancy stuff you get.

A Google check will give you lots of hints on what tourists usually see in Singapore, KL and Bangkok.
Ex.

For Singapore try to get a place near their MRT to make it easy to get around to some areas. Check out a tour to Melaka, Dragon Boats, museums. Check out the Raffles Hotel and see what you can get if you are super rich. For KL check out the Petronas Towers and Batu Cave Tours. In Bangkok you can use the Skytrain to bring you to the Patpong market, MBK, Chatuchak Weekend Market, connect with the subway at Asok and the bus station at Ekamai.

Not everyone has the same price in mind when you ask for "budget" accommodation. Keep in mind, my opinion, Singapore will be the most expensive place for hotels. By the way there is a train that goes from Singapore all the way to Bangkok. This train connects to KL, then to Butterworth (Penang area,) then to Hat Yai in Thailand and on to Bangkok.

Good luck.

Like the thread of reply mention, Singapore will be the most expensive and from my point of view the least interesting. Head straight into Melaka in Malaysia, up to KL, Cameron Highland, Tamen Negara and then the Perhentian islands in the north east coast of Malaysia. All this can be done on a budget with budget places to stay easy to find on arrival. Travelling by bus or train through Thailand will give you a much better experience than flying to Bangkok and missing out on the country your flying over.
SE Asia is cheap and so don’t worry about finding cheap acccom before you go but simply play it by ear... much more exciting if you are up for and adventure!

Have fun!!

in KL, if u prefer convevience of public transport in city centre, stay near Bukit Bintang/Sg.Wang. Few hostel/inn cost RM40-RM80 is av. along Jalan Pudu,Jalan Alor & on the stretch of shops leading to Berjaya Time Square. Enjoy yr trip!

Check out websites such as http://www.hostels.com/ & http://www.hostelworld.com/. Even though they are hostels, most of them offer good A/C rooms with breakfast and internet for very reasonable rates. Some of them are at great locations too.
