So now the first specific question: Almost all of the suggested itineraries indicate travelling from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh but the weather reports suggest that the winds will be north easterly and the southern part of the trip will be more flat as well. So wanting to start in Ho Chi Mink and bike north. Any reasons why that is not a good idea?
