Hi
Me and my husband are planning to travel first 2 weeks of october. We cant decide between Turkey or Morocco. This is a very special holiday for us as we havent travelled in years nd wont be able to atleast for 3-4 years. Please help decide.
Also wondering where would the weather be better in first 2 weeks of october. Does Turkey sart getting cold by then.
Thanks
Hi,
We pm-ed a bit regarding the choice.
Haven't mentioned the weather, but in both countries it still should be more than fine. High in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco it can be colder, nights in central Turkey can be colder as well. But days will still be warm and it's even one of the better times to visit, especially the deserts of Morocco, which can be too hot in summer to really enjoy.
You know my personal choice: Morocco, and don't be put of by the hassling and stuff, it is really not that bad. Just don't visit only cities, stick to Marrakech and enjoy the fantastic small rural towns and landscapes.
Mike
thank you very much. Do you think the weather wold be nice and warm in october. Also what would be your recommended itineray in 2 weeks. Thank you very much again
Hi
I'm posting you from Istanbul and I've got a further 8 weeks to enjoy here, I've travelled extensivelly through Morocco and if you only have a couple of weeks that should be the place to go. Its got everything - mountains, desert, beaches, skiing, culture and its a lot smaller than Turkey! Marrakesh, Rabat, Essaouira, Meknes, the Sahara, the High Atlas - all within 3-4 hours from each other.
Go and enjoy!
John
hello
the weather in Morocco during October is still cooler; not too hot and not too cold; it's be a great place for around 2 weeks, about your itineray: Fes - Merzouga (for Desert) - Tinghir - Dades Gorges - Ouarzazate - Marrakesh - Essaouira &/or Ouzoud waterfall- Fes.
if you need any information about places to stay and things to do then drop me a line and i'll be so happy to help you out.
greetings from the land of peace.
Rachid
peace & hugs
PS: don't get stuck to the cities and touristic places but try to visit small towns and villages to get the real touch of culture.
Hi
I've not been to Turkey but can recommend Morocco, I would think the weather will be very pleasant in October - i went end of August and although a more bearable dry heat it was pretty full on!
I had just under a week in Morocco and managed to see Marrakech (stick to the old town - it's worth a visit) the Atlas Mountains, Ouarzazate, Ait Ben Haddou, Dades & Todra Gorges, and a night in the Sahara which was one of the favourite parts of my trip. If i'd had any longer I would have gone to Fez and Essaouira. All very beautiful places.
The constant hassling to buy things in Marrakech did become tiresome but I never felt unsafe. If you want somewhere that feels quite well-trodden but still provides real culture and beautiful scenery then I'd def recommend a trip to Morocco!
Have fun!
I have had very good weather in Turkey in October. It has it's tourism sorted out and lots of history within a coach ride, or even in rare cases, a two day trip, at very cheap prices. It's cheap to eat out and they don't hassle you. Great place, with English spoken everywhere I've been.
Morocco? No thanks. People hassle you. Mosquitoes hassle you. Lousy food. Women are second class citizens, as are you because you are not a muslim, though because of your money they will pretend they like you. A bit slummy in places.
