I travelled to Singapore and Thailand a few years back. If I could offer any advise it would be to spend only a few days in Singapore. You can see the island in a few days and compared to other parts of Asia it is very expensive. You can pick up some cheap electronics there so if your planning on buying a camera etc do that there. A friend of mine has just got back from a 6 month trip around asia and he said the best place to go was one of the Malaysian Islands and coast..apparently its good value for money and less 'touristy' than Thailand.
