Flexible Drive from Austin, TX to Las Vegas NV mid to late January 2011. Would love to hear suggestions on stops along the way. Mostly interested in impressive sites, preferably nature related.
Most impressive spots between these two spots (in my order)--
(1) Grand Canyon
(2) Carlsbad Canyon
(3) Lake Powell (southern end)
(4) Sedona, Arizona's red rock canyons
(5) Monument Valley
(6) Zion National Park
(7) Canyon de Chelley National Monument
(8) Lake Mead (which will allow you to see Hoover/Boulder Dam)
and if you don't mind going a bit out of the way either going or coming:
(9) Bryce Canyon National Park
(10) Mesa Verde National Park
(11) Arches National Park
(12) Canyonlands National Park
(13) City of Santa Fe, New Mexico
(14) Dead Horse Point (near Moab, Utah)
(15) Old Steam Train from Durango, Colorado to/from Silverton, Colorado
