May itinerary so far is -
I am not completely clear why you'd wish to SNORKEL the Blue Hole as the nature of the Hole is that it is 450 feet deep. There is an area around the hole that has reef, and therefore sea life, but to my knowledge, this is no different from closer and less expensive places to go to snorkel near San Pedro and Caulker. But that is your lookout.
The rest of the trip is doable and good as short vacay time. Have fun.

Have somali pirates extended their area of operation to included the Carib or has buccaneering returned as a career path due to the GFC?

I've snorkelled the Blue Hole at Dahab so thought I'd do the same in Belize.
Some travel book reckons floating over the blue depth can be quite spatially discombobulating.
Maybe just fly over it for the views.

The travel book sounds like it wanted to be poetic. I've dived there, I wasn't spatially discombobulated....
I didn't wish to indicate pirates with the phrase. To be honest, I can't figure why it would connect to pirates.
Anyway, the reef is the to snorkel should you wish it...I wouldn't find it interesting if it were me though.
