It really depends on what you plan to do whilst you're in Oz. Are you going to travel around a lot? Are you wanting to do loads of activities whilst you're there, eat out all the time or cook your own, drink loads of beer?! etc
You need AUD$5000 as a requirement for a Working Holiday Visa anyway, beyond that, it just depends on what you're doing and also if you plan on working whilst in Australia.
Including accommodation I spent between AUD$50-100 a day on average when I first arrived. Some days it would be more than that, others I wouldn't be spending much at all. I wasn't worrying about what I was spending at that time either, so you can do it cheaper (ie, don't drink loads of beer )
