Im looking into RV hire for a 3 month drive holiday around the USA.

Apparently, the company rents out their motorhomes through various campervan hire companies. What you need to worry about is not the motorhome itself, but rather the company that will be renting you the vehicle. I would think if they ask for only a nominal reservation fee (like $50 or so) originally, and then ask for the larger deposit only when you pick the vehicle up, then you will be fine.
I don't think I'd pay for a long-term rental upfront, however. I'd be worried that there would be no company around to pick up the RV from once I arrived.

I am a bit confused here. You are planning on renting in the US for 3 months and you name a company that rents RVs in Australia. Let's agree that Energi MotorHomes is an excellent company. How is that going to help you when you fly to the US? Emma, you need reliable US companies. Google ' rv rental usa' and start getting cost estimates. Good luck with your planning.
Thanks so much Calcruzer, that article is helpful! I didnt realise Energi did not own their own vehicles but I like this idea. Energi Motorhomes books everything online so I totally agree with the worry that there wont be a company around to pick up the RV. Will give the Australian office a call and they may be able to help me get onto the American side of things.
Vegasmike - Energi Motorhomes has offices all over the world, and while they do rent motorhomes in Australia I would obviously be looking at hiring a vehicle from their branch in California, an RV in Australia is not much help when I am on the other side of the world!
True! I would plug my dates in get a quote. I see you get 100 miles/day w/o an additional charge. Add any insurance costs, estimate for fuel and you should have an approximate budget for your 3 month adventure in the US. Good Luck.
