travelling to Oz early june, advice needed :)

Hi there guys,

Hi Rosie,

It's probably best to head north from Sydney up the coast and spend winter somewhere in Queensland. In terms of finding a job Sydney is probably a good place to look but it's not a great place to be in winter, I'd look in the major towns along the QLD coast, Brisbane, Townsville and Mackay.

Hi Tim,

thanks very much for your advice, ill have a look into these towns for job opportunites etc!

Hey Rosie,

You will definitely want to head north. Cairns in north queensland is a good option - i lived there for a year and it is a town that lives off tourism and an easy place for travellers to pick up work. Also by living there you set yourself up by having a base to branch out and explore the northern coast through the rainforest into cooktown, or out to the great barrier reef. Who knows you might find work in a tourism company and be going to all of the great places for free!!
I think you will find it easy to transition in Cairns as well, because the town is sustained by tourism there are plenty people who are happy to help out with whatever you might need - also heaps of nice sharehouses where you can live with a bunch of other travellers (this is what I did).

Cheers, Kyle

Hey Rosie,

I just booked my flight last week to fly to Cairns 17th May. Decided on it instead of Sydney as the weather is warmer in the winter season. My plan is to stay there for a few weeks then find work then gradually travel my way down the east coast.

Thanks for the info Kyle I feel a bit more at ease as I was worried there wasnt going to be alot of work there to start :-). Going on my own also so looking forward to meeting up with anyone whos in the area also. so excited!!

Laura x
