2 months europe travel 2011

Hi guys and gals,

You have stacks of time. Fly in Lisbon, bus down to the Algarve and Faro. Bus to Seville. Bus to Granada or Cordoba. Bus to Madrid. Bus to Barcelona. Spend some days touring and check out the beaches nearby and to the north. Flight home.

Of course rail is quicker between some of the Spanish destinations. You don't really need a rail pass till leaving Seville.

Do you really need to go August? Weather will be HOT (Seville has had temperatures into the lower fifties, centigrade in August before now), and everywhere is crowded. Transport is full and accommodation is very, very expensive.

If you can, travel September and October it's cheaper, quieter and merely hot.

Ok, normally I don't care too much about details regarding stuff, but as a climate and weather enthusiast I have to say that this is not true. The highest ever officially recorded in all of Europe is 48 in Greece (there has been talk about 50 in Murcia, but not true, also not in other cities in Spain). Seville got close to this once, but you have to bee (un)lucky to get even 45, which happens a few days each summers.
But you are right, it's HOT! And in a city that's not really what you want, even on a beach by the way LOL!

I was in Seville in July last year. The temperature hit 46 degrees Celsius according to the pharmacy sign.

Thanks for your input guys, well I can only go in Aug/Sept really as I am at the beginning of a complete lifeplan overhaul and am off to Vegas in October for a mates birthday then back to London to begin my new lifeplan.

I only mentioned Spain and Portugal before but I am also intending on going to France and Italy and maybe a couple of places in Central Europe if my funds stretch that far.

So weather aside, Cyberia are you saying the bus would be a cheaper option for part of my journey and therefore I should do a combination of bus and train?

Any help from anyone that has attempted to travel Europe for 2 months would be very helpful.
