I will be flying in Sydney in November and for the first few weeks I will be with my sister. Then she will be heading back home to Canada Nov 19th and I will be left. So if you're in Sydney around then and looking for a travel buddy, let me know.
This will also by my first time in Oz and I'm hoping to tour up the East coast grabbing odd jobs here and there.

Hey Jemmadesh,
I'm coming to the end of my working visa and although I have seen every city and state in Oz, I have a lived a large proportion of this time in Melbourne. In my eyes it is the best city to live in. There are loads of agencies to sign up with who have tons of work and I'd advise doing that pretty much as soon as you are in town. I also recommend getting your bank account sorted as soon as you arrive. If you don't mind bar work and you fancy getting into big events for free, sign up with a company called Octopus where you can work events like the F1, AFL and big gigs at Ethiad Stadium.
With regards to things to see/do, I'd recommend travelling as much of Oz as possible as it is awesome, but with regards to Melbourne and Victoria I'd say The Grampians, Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island, St Kilda festival, not to mention all the cool bars and restaurants in and around town. If you're going to live anywhere I would strongly recommend getting out of St Kilda and heading to Brunswick, fitzroy or Northcote as they have cooler bars, cooler people and a cooler way of life (not to mention being really close to the CBD)
That's about all I can think of, of the top of my head, but enjoy, it'll be brilliant!!!
