Europe Backpack 30days

Hi guys..
Here I draft our first itinerary.

hi katejing,

you are trying to cover too many places in 30 days. That is not even two days per place. It would be close to impossible to cover all those places in such a short period of time. You will be constantly travelling which is very tiring. Trust me. I suggest you cut some places or extend your trip to about 45 days.

My advice would be to leave out Frankfurt and Cologne. Pisa can be done in a few hours and is not far from Florence. Don't spend more than a night in Athens and I would also leave out Crete. Just do Santorini.

If you do follow through, I am not sure which order you would take but I suggest taking some flights. You don't have time to take trains. Seeing you are departing from My recommendation is Greece, fly to Rome, Switzerland, France, Germany, Prague and fly to London.

There is a city called Fribourg very close to the Swiss border. This is where the Black Forest is and is used as a base for the Black Forest region. In the Rhine Valley you have the town of St Goar but it is very quiet.

Good Luck

too many too many! i spent 6 days in rome and i was like, gosh this is not enough! u'll be spending a lot of time on the roads, or flyign from one city to another. is that worth it? u will end up losing a lot of time that could've been spent sight seeing and experiencing cultures.

for me, i'd advise actually spending more time in one city, experiencing life there, learning more abt the places, enjoying their cuisines, and sight seeing in one place, than to cover 3 or 5 cities in one country. pick one city from each country, i say. thn u still get to go to all the diff countries, but u spend maybe a week in each city? chk out ur flight / rail options, then choose the cities to go to based on ur travel options...

Less really is more when travelling around Europe. 2-3 days is usually a good time span for each city on a quick trip but often longer. If you want to do day trips then you can extend that further. Honestly, you will be exhausted doing that journey and won't enjoy it towards the end. It's nice to take your time sight-seeing, then hit some bars in the evening and what not rather than just being panicked about cramming everything in.

I'm a geologist so yes - go to Santorini definitely :-).

I can really recommend Munich as well, my favourite German city. From Munich you can visit Neuschwanstein Castle (think DisneyLand) and all sorts of other places.
