SCARED!!!

lilstephy89 has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

Entirely understandable that you're nervous, but honestly you're worrying waaaaay too much... arranging travel buddies in advance for Thailand is completely unnecessary.

Thailand is arguably the the easiest/simplest "foreign" country on the entire Planet Earth for a solo western backpacker. Simply buy a decent guide book and do a little research. If you stick to the usual guide book places you'll find it absolutely JAM-PACKED with countless other novice backpackers EXACTLY like you.

It's the perfect destination for a first time solo backpacker who needs to build a little confidence.

Relax... you'll easily meet loads of compatible travel companions once you're there... have fun...

Cheers,
Terry

By the way, the best advice by FAR that anyone can give you right now is to simply buy a decent Guide Book. (Rough Guide, Lonely Planet, etc.)

The touristy/backpacking parts of Thailand are covered very well in the guide books, no worries.

Stop worrying. Start reading and have fun with your research.

Cheers,
Terry

Hi Steph

The first time I went to Thailand, I went alone (with a broken wrist from a snowboarding accident weeks before I went). I was absolutely terrified. Immediately after getting off the plane I met 2 Americans and we shared accomodation that night. I took a plane to Ko Samui and hung out at a guest house the whole time I was there. Everyone was so awesome and I met a community of people that showed me things, I had breakfast with them and learned all about their countries and cultures. It was the best experience and moulded me to the adventurous person I am today. I will be in Thailand for the 5th time this December so if you're going to be there at that time, I would totally meet up with you and show you around. It will be the absolute time of your life, I promise you that.

hey im totally new to this whole thing, im wanting to travel but im so scared to go alone! im feeling thailand first as heard its easy to travel around but i could do with any advice and maybe even a travel buddy!
