I uploaded a pile of photos a couple of days ago using the bulk uploader. I noticed that when it asks for the titles, dates etc, the names of a number of the files had been changed. My standard file name for these photos was can001.jgp numbering sequentially. The first nine photos all had another number added to the front of the file name so that can001 became 6can001, can002 became 8can002 and so on. From can010 onwards, there is no change.
Could it be that those photos used to have that as a title? I know we're doing some EXIF data extraction (amongst others should be able to detect place and date of photo if it's part of the EXIF data), and it might be that those names are a part of the EXIF data which probably doesn't update when the picture is updated.
I think it would get pretty cluttered adding a filename option in the current design/page width, and in the case of most users it would be very unnecessary, as they rely on their camera naming the images and don't worry about the filename really. My images tend to have filenames like 1_1308825363375_IMG_0787.jpg for example, which isn't very meaningful.
Will add the 'Taken On' column to our to do list; good idea!
These photos are scans of prints via a Canon scanner. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Just the ones that had their filename changed, or all the photos you uploaded?
All of the "can" photos are scans. As far as I can make out these are the only scans that have had their names changed.
