Solo Traveller

Is it worth it to travel in Europe alone? I'm 20 yrs old and I'm planning a Eurotrip for a month or two by myself. A friend of mine told me you meet people along the way but I'm kind of scared. I need some advice too. Thank you very much!

Yes it is totally worth travelling alone! Just make sure you do your research on what you want to do and how to get from place to place and write it down. Also make sure your family has your itinerary.

I normally research how to get from the airport to and from the place that I'm staying. Book the place to stay before hand. Check the transports so I know how to get somewhere and how. Check whether there's left luggage. See what tips other people have provided. Check what I want to see. There's a website about the trains in Europe which I have found to be very helpful when I went to Italy (just got back a few days ago) www.seat61.com. It's got tips on how to book trains etc in the country that you want to go and things you should note i.e. on the regional trains in Italy, always make sure you stamp your ticket on the train. I met some people in Verona (grand mother and grand daughter) who went on the train and didn't stamp their ticket so they got fined.

You can normally get a free map of the place in information/tourist centres (everywhere except for Venice I have found because you have to pay 2 euros for it!!!).

I think you should also be flexible on what you want to see. Some places have a card where you can see attractions for free. Some are really worth it especially those that include travel on public transport in the city. But check whether it include travel to the airport because normally they don't. Oh and public toilets as well can be a pain because I have found that in Italy, they charge. But if you have a drink or something in a cafe, they normally have a toilet so it's worth thinking about that as well.

Also just be careful if you are travelling alone i.e. separate money into different places, don't take valuables and keep passport with you. Take tissues and hand gel. Don't make your bag too heavy because you're the one carrying it but make sure you have enough clothes just in case it gets cold and take waterproofs!

I think you'll enjoy yourself! I love travelling by myself because I can do what I want to do. I squeezed so much into my 5 day trip to Italy and it was amazing so much independence! Have fun and good luck!

the key to meeting people is being friendly and don't be afraid to say hi first. There are some really friendly, but shy, people out there.

Keep your schedule flexible. If you are loving a place, you can just stay longer. If you are hating a place, you can pick up and leave.

Have Fun!!

YES! It's ganna be great time for you to travel alone
Last year I traveled Europe for about two months with my family.
It's good to travel with others but traveling alone can be a great opportunity for a person.
However, I think traveling alone should have perfect plans than traveling with others.
Unexpected situations can exist while traveling so concentrating is really important.
Contecting with online local backpacking websites that can help you find imformations is helpful as well.
Good luck to you I hope that you would have happy moments in Europe.
Thank you.
