Barcelona to France?

Hey all! Looking for a little advice. We're heading from Barcelona (renting a car) to Cadaques. We have a few days I thought iy would be cool to carry on over to France for a couple of days.

The coast road is much improved over the years, particularly on the Spanish side and presents no problems. Typical road

It provides great views of the coast as well as (snowy in winter) mountain

Cadaques itself is charming, Collioure comes highly regarded, and I quite like some of the Spanish coastal villages

Take the coast road one way and return on the highway via Figueres (Dali museum) and Girona (medieval centre).

Peter

Great advice and very appreciated! Anything worth seeing across the border in France if coming from Cadaques?

thanks!

A number of small coastal towns worth visiting on the way from Barcelona to Cadaques. Take plenty of time getting there. Andorra is not far away and neither is Montserrat. A short hop from Cadaques by car there are a number of ruins worth visiting.

Get yourself a good map of the area (rather than relying on the poor one that comes with the car).

If you want non touristy towns in Spain or France, go inland.

Spanish driving tends to be a bit fast and furious. Take your time and don't let anyone hurry you.

Watch out for the parking in large cities in France, the folk tend to use their bumpers to get into spaces and don't bother if they hit your car.
Outside of the big cities France is an easy drive.
Some of the drivers in Spain are idiots.
Jean
