Greyhound vs Organised Tours

Hi Samara(?)
Lots more info on your part is needed if you would like help.
Where are you intending on going? How long is your time table? Any particular places a "Must See"? What is your budget? How many in your party? You know: help us help you!

Buses (not the tours) are just about the slowest way to get around, pass by many places that could or would be of interest, and are going to stop and/or drop you at the most gritty locations in just about every city they service.

Which "Contiki" tour are you considering? That would help us get a picture of your interests and so forth.

Love to help, but need more info, Bill

Coming in December? Seems to me a horrible waste of money at that time of year! Depending on your age and interests, I thoroughly agree with vwsurfari that Greyhound would be a terrible introduction to the USA! If you are quite young, I would suggest the Green Tortoise bus tours. Contiki tours are more for yuppies in my opinion.

You are aware that this country is experiencing major economic troubles at this time, and you will be witnessing major demonstrations by the homeless and "formerly middle class" Americans. Bring tons of money since prices are up and there are few if any values at the present time.
