New to Travelling!

Hi All,

2-3 months will go very quickly so don't try to do too much.

Scandinavia and Moscow will be cold in November. Consider going another time as you can get a cheap flight to say Helsinki then a train to St Petersburg and go on from there. From Moscow, an Aeroflot flight will get you to Bangkok.

Flights should be booked fairly soon. November is the beginning of the high season in Thailand and much of Asia, and if I were going this year, I would have booked in July. Also flights to Australia aren't cheap. There are a number of cheap airlines in Asia, notably AirAsia (the local equivalent of Ryanair).

Daily Mail on Saturday and The Mail on Sunday have good travel sections in which there are a number of RTW companies, insurers and such. Some destinations can add significantly to the price, as can flying certain days so try to be a bit flexible. You can of course travel overland in sections on a RTW ticket.

By time you get to America, it will be Jan-Feb so South America is better, and cheaper. Peru probably has as much to see as the rest of SA so is a good destination with Lima, Cuzco (lots of travel agents with day trips from there, as well as the city itself), Machu Picchu, etc.

In the internet age you can book accommodation so it's there when you arrive. Thailand and Malaysia has lots of cheap accommodation but I would recommend air conditioning as it gets rather hot there.

Penang is worth a visit in Malaysia. You could fly out from Kuala Lumpur, but if you go down to Singapore, accommodation is expensive there. It's very expensive in Australia in the xmas - new year period, especially in Sydney.
