Counting days for a New Year vacation in San Diego

Just few days left for 2011. This year has passed too fast. Now that the world is ending in 2012, I want to make the most of my life. Just kidding. I don't know and I don't care whether the world will come to an end or not. All I know is I want to have a great New Year vacation. I along with my friends are going to San Diego on 29th. Nightlife in Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego is rocking. Our itinerary includes beaches, Gaslamp Quarter and La Jolla. I have reserved room at the California Suites Hotel. Please suggest if you have any ideas about some interesting events or activities which the locals host in San Diego during New Year?

Check out the Balboa Park Calendar website--which tells about all the event taking place (on a day by day basis) for the next few months.

You might also check and see if there are any Christmas boat parades still taking place.

Also, consider going to a local sports bar and watching the San Diego Chargers versus Oakland game on January 1st. If San Diego wins their game against Detroit tomorrow, then this game might determine if they make the playoffs.

Lastly, the Hotel del Coronado offers ice skating overlooking the Pacific Ocean up until January 1st:

Fairly unique experience, I'd say.

Enjoy! I will be there from jan 6 to jan 13
If u find something special let me know!

Hey Katewill,

I must say you chose a very beautiful place for your New Year vacation. San Diego is breathtakingly gorgeous. Hope you had a great time. Do let us know about your vacation.

First of all, I apologize, I am replying so late. I had not been keeping well.

Hey Calcruzer. I couldn't see much of balboa Park this time. Mostly I spent time at Gaslamp Quarter and beaches.

Hey henryka_marks & RichardS12. I agree wholeheartedly with both of you. San Diego is a very beautiful place. Whether you want to enjoy rocking nightlife or want to experience the old world charm; San Diego has lots to offer to tourists. I had a great time. I partied at Gaslamp Quarter, and loved the old world charm of Old Town.

Hey geraldphoto. My apologies I am replying late. I would have recommended Gaslamp Quarter for nightlife, a visit to La Jolla and Old Town to enjoy the pleasures of old world charm. Once you are back, do reply how was your vacation.

Katewill,

Hey, I think spending time at the Gaslight Quarter and Old World and Mission Bay and La Jolla are the best spots in San Diego (Balboa Park is like the fifth best place, with the other spots being #1 through #4).

Glad you had a great time.
