So as we all know we can only be in Thailand for 1 month and have to show proof on onward travel after that month is up (before you can even ever the country).
I was wondering if anyone had some advice of where to get a round trip to out of Thailand so I can extend that visa for another month on my return travels. What is the cheapest place to fly to and from?
A lot of people travel up to the north of Thailand and then cross into Laos by land. However if you're looking to fly somewhere, eg Vietnam, I found air Asia to be pretty good and quite cheap!
I actually plan on doing that. Taking a boat from Chang Mai over into Laos. But the thing is I have to show a ticket showing I leave Thailand before actually entering the country.
What city did you fly into? Vietnam/Laos
Double check before you go overland or by boat - but when I was there this summer, you only were getting one month extensions if you fly - going overland (and I believe by boat) only gave you a 15 day extension.
Might check the air asia website for the cheapest rt flights to nearby counties. You can find some real bargains if you book way ahead of time.
Jared,
The Thai officials at Suvarnabhumi can ask for onward travel, but they don't. You will get your free 30 day entry permit w/o showing any airline documents. One of the cheapest flights is : BKK-PNH if you do want to fly out and return for another 30 day entry permit. Good luck.
thank you all. i've came to the conclusion that flying anywhere in SEA via Air Asia, is about $50-100.
today with airasia you can go to many placec, even korea and japan
Yea I flew from Bangkok to Vientiane, Laos because my brother's knee was to messed to bus it to Vang Vieng. That was really expensive because you had to take Laos Airlines or Vietnam Airlines. As a Canadian it was pretty expensive getting our Visa upon landing in Saigon, Vietnam. I would say to just fly to Malaysia and save yourself a whole bunch of money. Plus, Malaysia has so much offer including some of the most welcoming people. So excited for you, have fun!

Hi,
want to obtain a visa for thailand for 2months,right? if so then some ways can help you achieve that.
1.Tourist Visa obtained back in Oz from Thai embassy or consultant before you travel. They were free till earlier this year but I have heard that they may do free tourist visa again as the floods have scared around 700,000 tourist away so it depends when you are traveling and if they reintroduce it. Cost for single entry 60 day TR visa is around $45 then if you want to extend for another 30 days go to the immigration north side of BKK and get 30 day extension, cost 1,900 baht, all pretty painless.
2. Fly to Phnom Penh, Cambodia return with air Asia from BKK and stay as long as you like up to 30 days when you land back in BKK you will get another 30 days. Cambo and air Asia is the cheapest way to do it.
3 .Casino Bus to the boarder from Thailand and walk out of Thailand and then into Cambo at Poi pet, then walk back out of Cambo and then back into Thailand and catch the bus back. Good write up here about it
hope it helps have a nice trip~
