Hi guys,
I guess it depends on where your China tour ends, and how you plan to get to Bangkok in those 10 days. I would recommend Vietnam - Hanoi is great and you could easily spend 10 days visiting Sapa and Halong Bay as well. Cambodia and/or Laos is another option. India is a long way to go just for 10 days.
My fear for you is that in 10 days between tours, you might go off on your own and realize a few things - that it's incredibly easy to make friends along the way, it's very easy to arrange your own travels, and you can do it all for a fraction of what you are paying for a tour. You might feel your next tours are a bit needless and expensive.
Hey,
It ends in Hong Kong. And I planned to just get a plane to Bangkok.
I'm so new to all this and I thought being on my own, I might be best going with tours. Only because I don't actually know what I wish to see, I just want to see as much of Asia as I can in my short time.
I am not very good at sorting out the logisitics of travelling between palces hence why I thought a tour would be good. Perhaps I need to stop being lazy and do some more research.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Even if it is easy to make friends and get around yourself, tours are a good way of maximising your time and that can be worth paying the extra for. I've just finished a 15 day tour from Delhi to Kathmandu with Gap Adventures and we fitted in way more than we would have done had we travelled independently. Also we had an excellent guide who really added to the experience and I feel that I learnt a lot more about the countries we visited than we would have done otherwise. If you are keen to do another Gap tour, they do an 8 day golden triangle tour or a 7 day tour of the South, both of which look really good. As Degolasse says Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos are also good options and perhaps more logical, geograpically, than going to India.
Thanks Bex, so you recommend Gap Adventures then?
I'm not so sure if I fancy China, so I'm now playing with the idea of going to Bangkok for four nights before the tour starts, then doing the Roam Bangkok to Bali and then figure out somewhere else to go afterwards.
Yes, I was impressed with Gap; some people on the tour had used them several times already and had always had good experiences.
Thanks that's helpful
