We are spending 3 nights travelling throthistle La Rochelle area. We would like to find small coastal town/s to spend a few days unwinding. Any help would be welcome
I visit La Rochelle every year, it's a lovely seaside town with amazing seafood restaurants.
It's worth taking a boat out and visiting the Islands of Ile de Re, perfect for a bike ride, or Ile de L'Aix great to spend the day maybe take a picnic. Both places are amazing when the sun in out.
Otherwise, there is the aquarium very famous in LR and the historic towers with views of the town. If you like cookery, Flavours of France offers 2 or 3 night cooking courses with a top local chef where you learn French classics and French fusion food - yum.
For wine there's lots of small "caves" which offer you tastings of their wine, check the tourist office for any wine related events sometimes there's a cheese and wine tasting event they're pretty good.
