I went to Bali just under two years ago now with my girlfriend (ex!) After Kutta we stayed at somewhere called Candidassa (sp). Its really quiet but it is a good couple place for 4/5 days to relax. There's a hostel there run by an Aussie guy and his wife, cant remember the name but it worked out about £10 a night each with breakfast. Guests were also allowed to use the pool down the road a little bit which was really nice. Worth checking out.

I know this post is a little old and you might already have planned your trip. But instead of staying in Kuta I would go for Seminyak. First of all because I think Seminyak has the kind of night life you are looking - that is where you find Ku De Ta - but also because Seminyak generally is a nicer place than Kuta. Tanah Lot will also be easier accessible from there.

It is very easy to reach Lombok from Gili T. There is several daily ferries and it is only a 5-10 minute boat ride. I never spend any time on Lombok myself though.
