A month in Florence without a car

My husband and I are planning a month long stay in Florence early this summer. We have reserved a small 2 room apt in a villa just below the Fiesole hills on the outskirts of Florence. We do not want to rent a car. We're interested in music and art, and getting to know the culture of the region, including cooking most of our own meals. I would greatly appreciate any advice and suggestions that those of you familiar with the area, can give us. Also any tips that might help us keep our expenses down. Thank you in advance!

Well if you are renting a place with a place to cook as often as you want that is a big step. As far as getting around you could either rent some scooters or bicycles so you won't have to walk everywhere. My favorite thing to tell people when looking for ideas on what to do is to go to google maps because it isn't only for finding directions. Since you will be in Florence type in to google maps things to do in Florence and you will get a map full of balloons and each balloon is some kind of attraction and most often the balloon will have a web site associated with it that tells what the attraction is. I have done this many times and it is a great way to find many interesting things to see and do.
