anyone in australia and new zealand july-august 2013?

hi,

Hey Jenna I'm flying into Brisbane on the 5 th of July on my own if that's any help x

Hi Jenna, I'm doing Australia and New Zealand but should have about a year in each! I'm trying to plan being somewhere along the East Coast-Cairns, Brisbane etc. during July and August which would be on your route. I'm also going solo, seems to be a lot of us!

oh thats good, i'm nervous about going alone so really hoping to meet people along the way! x

I wouldn't be too nervous about travelling alone, you will be surprised at how many people you will meet doing the same thing. I would just like to get to know some people who will be around the east coast when I get there in July! Are you travelling Asia as well, I will be in Bali before I get to Oz and have travelled SE Asia for a few months if you need any advice x

at the minute my plan is to get to oz around the middle of july, be in perth for around 2 weeks, then go over to cairns and travel down to sydney. i have time and money against me (and other countries i want to go to) so in total i'll be in australia around 6 weeks. i'm travelling around thailand then down to singapore before i get to oz, have you done either of those? i'd love some advice! x

Sounds like a good plan, I will probably be in Cairns by August as well. Shame you only have 6 weeks but I'm sure you will still be able to make the most of it. I have done the same route as you before but depends if you are travelling overland or flying to Singapore from somewhere in Thailand. I went through Malaysia to Singapore.

Try not to spend too much time in Bangkok if you can, 2-3 nights at the most. I loved it at first but gets annoying quite quickly, you won't be left alone!! Do some island hopping, Ko Samui is ok (very touristy), not the best so try Ko Tao/Phagnan. I havn't been over the west side towards Phuket/Krabi etc. but meant to be good! I only really saw the rest of Thailand from a bus window as I went to Laos and Cambodia via Bangkok i'm afraid. You could fly to Singapore from there easily but I went through Malaysia which I actually preferred to my short experience in Thailand. Went to Penang, Cameron Highlands, Kuala Lumper, Melaka. If you are doing overland I could give you some more details if you want .

Singapore itself is great, good nightlife/food etc but 2-3 days is enough as you will have no money left otherwise, very expensive. I stayed in the cheapest place I could find one night and had probably the worst night of my life! Sorry long post! x

Heyya

So my first time travelling solo have done asia twice but always with someone.

My plans so far are Vietnam & Laos from mid july this I will be doing with a friend then she goes back home and I start my journey in Oz. I plan to get a flight to Cairns and start there. Will be arrive end of August (week before my birthday) and hoping to meet someone before hand just to ease the nerves of first day by myself.

So if anyone reckons they will be in Cairns around then let me know
