Travel around Asia

Hi,

You don't write about how much research you have done or what your budget will be like. Or how long you will be on this great odyssey!

You have quite a few countries on your list. Some of them not cheap at all! You may not be able to work in these countries without a work permit so the money you start with may have to see you through the entire trip. (Looks like a lot of flights to pay for!)

Different countries means different visa requirements. Some countries you pay for the visa and some you might be able to enter free depending on the passport you travel with. There may be some requirements that you have a round trip plane ticket or flight out of the country just to leave the departure airport. (Proof of onward travel.)

Different countries means different currency requirements. Do not travel with a single credit or debit card. Lose or damage a single card and you could have problems waiting for a replacement card. Always have a back up source of money. Maybe photocopy your passport and any visas you get ahead of time in case your passport come up missing. You can't use a copy but it will have some data to help you with a replacement. Don't abuse your passport. Keep it clean, keep it dry and don't use it for toilet paper like the idiot in the below link!

For quick help do Google search with your laptop or tablet.

  • Remember to tell your bank that you will be overseas using their cards before leaving on the trip.

Hi,

Thank for you reply.

We have done some reachers, however, I do think that we need much more.

Our thought is to use ca 10.000 SEK for each month, but some countries in combing to be one month, that means that we might be there for one week, or more.

We do have good control over the visa, many of the country has electronic so we don´t have to think of sending our passport somewhere, do will do volunteer work in Indonesia and Thailand.

But something we do would like to know if any people have been in Philippine since that will be out big first stop.

Kind regards,
Arsema o Josefin.

"use ca 10.000 SEK for each month..."

How much is this per month in US dollars or UK pounds? Not sure what ca 10,000 SEK is.

After paying for your plane rides to and from a particular country how much per day will both of you have for day to day spending plus paying for the hotel room? This is the important figure to work with for each country! Take one country at a time. There are many travel forums available. If one doesn't have an answer for one thing other forums may have the help you need. Don't just use a smart phone for research, use a laptop for better results.

I do know that a work permit is supposed to be used for volunteer work in Thailand. Will it be enforced - don't know! Same for "Proof of Onward Travel" sometimes enforced and sometimes not!

Sample search with a laptop:

For the Philippines most tourists go through Manila. Look at a map of the P.I. (Philippine Islands.) This country includes many islands. You decide what you want to do. For every country you visit do a Google search for scams to avoid. My last visit to the P.I. was 4 years ago. Some parts of Manila can be a little dodgy late at night.

The P.I. will be cheaper than Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore. Buy or borrow a travel guide for this country.

(For Kina do you mean China??)

For each country research potential scams and any dangers. For the Philippines and Thailand most Western tourists are warned about southern locations such as Mindanao in the P.I. and Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla in Thailand.

Hello there.. Thanks for sharing guys. It helped me a lot. The next time I travel around Asia I have an idea now. Continue sharing. Have a nice day.

A quick search on Google: 1174 U.S. dollars.

Dear Arsema & Josefin,

Some of the places you have your eyes set upon are not cheap at all! Perhaps you should investigate what countries that really means a world for you guys to visit? I personally find this list very intriguing however I would find out exactly what I wanted to see, what I wanted to do and everything else before posting? It is way more easy for anybody in this forum to comment on your travels plans, if you list some places that you've considered?

Thanks for all response.

We do have but up ad´s in many different forum to check the differenst answer.

We are flying to Manila and the flying from Philippine from the air port cebu.

We Would appreciate any advice on what to see and if someone have travel between this to citys.

And Kina – China

Kind regards,
Arsema o Josein

You can do a Google check for how to get to Cebu. About 350 miles from Manila.

Sample:

Cebu Air Pacific flies to Cebu.

PAL.

On any bus keep passport, money and valuables with you at your seat and not packed away. On some bus rides (for me Manila to Angeles City/Dau for Clark Airport area) passengers would line the aisle with luggage. Rabbit and Victory Liner bus lines is what I used for this in the past.

Map of the Philippines, find the places you want to go to.

You should pull up a map of Manila and get an idea of where you want to spend the night and how much you want to spend on a room.

  • In Manila I chose an area convenient for visiting my embassy, this is the Ermita area. Other locations may be better for you. (Research Makati - Greenhills.)

Make Google your friend! Use a laptop or desktop computer for best results is my suggestion.

Got a flight out of the Philippines?

See and do stuff from this forum Travel Guide section:

Have fun.
