Surfing in Indonesia (Bali)

Hey, just wondering if there's anyone with experience backpackin around Indonesia, possibly someone with surf experience in the area that could help a guy out. I'm looking for places to stay for a month or two, specifically around Bali. A shared villa, b&b or homestay type of spot with say a 15-20 min. drive to beaches (i plan on getting a scooter) . I'm an intermediate surfer, still learning though, and will be planning my stay somewhere between April thru to June. Also, prices / places to buy a used surf board. Any help is appreciated.

Hi...
Warm greeting from Bali. I'm sure Bali will be your right choice. The island is small with beautiful beaches. It's good not only for surfing but also snorkeling or diving. You can stay in Kuta area where you can find reasonable accomodation close to the beaches. You can find a room from US$ 6 up to hundreds.

Thanks, is that a fairly populated area? I'm looking for something a little quieter or 'off the beaten path' as they say..

Have stayed on Nusa Lembongan island (just off Bali) a couple of times and would be a good spot to totally chill and catch a few waves.
Nusa Lembongen has three main breaks - Playgrounds, Lacerations, Shipwrecks.

Check out

Pretty cheap accomodation available right on the beach, basic surfie food and dudes from all round the world come to enjoy it (met Brazilian, American, French and South African surfers last time I was there in 2003?). Lots of Aussies of course.

Snorkelling along the Nusa Penida cliffs close by was really good back in 2003 (saw huge manta glide past me which made my day).

Wow man, that sound like a pretty sweet spot. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!
