Budget??

Hi everyone, I am off round the world in june for 9 months.usa-fiji-NZ-OZ-malaysia-thailand but am reali unsure on how much am am going to need. i will be staying in hostel dorms and all the flights are paid.any recommendations? I was thinking about 4000 and picking up some work??? I also have a working visa for OZ were i will be for 4-5 months.

Hi, that is very similar to my RTW route, exept i am going for 6months not 9. usa for 3weeks, fiji for 1week, nz for 1month, oz east coast for 3months, + thailand for 1month. leaving in nov this year. flights- £1520 and we are booking the oz experience. i am going to be taking £7600 spending money, staying in hostels + not working at all. they suggest about £1000 p/month allows you to comfortably scrape by,so hopefully i will be able to do lots of extra activities aswell. how much ur flights?

my flights were simular £1388,quite a gud price i thought. Im hoping it wont be tzo hard to pick up work out there and the pays ok.

yes that seems like a very good price. are you willing to say where you booked. my quote is from sta travel, but im going to shop around. i think you will be fine if you find work, ive heard you can sign up to agencies to help you get jobs quicker, seems like quite a common choice for many oz visitors with WHV's. i have no idea how easy it is to find work though, so you might want to look into that if you're only taking £4k, hopefully someone with some experience will provide a some advice........

Il have a look into them agencies cheers for the advice.yep i booked it at the flight centre its in mancester on picadilly. the website online is roundtheworldexperts theyve got some realy good deals

I'm flying to the following places: Uk-China-Thailand-Oz-NZ-USA-UK.

Cost me £998 with Travel Nation. STA, Flight Centre, etc, quoted £1300+. Check them out.

yeah i have seen that website, they do have some good deals, it might be worth me getting a quote from them too, not far from me either in manchester, so might pop in next week. cheers for letting me know. Appro, that sounds like you got a good deal too. i think the reason you found sta travel to be much more expensive for you, is because they specialise in student and youth (under 26) travel. not trying to emphasise your age or anything for many of my friends that have booked with them, they have been the cheapest. But i'm still going to keep looking, even £100-£200 saving is worthwhile in the grand scheme of things (more beer money, or a skydive!!!)

which company are people using for insurance, and what kind of prices have you seen? i looked at direct line, their cover seems really good and they quoted about £200 in total covering me and my mate for the 6 months. is that reasonable?

keep this thread aliiiiive

Insure and Go are the best i found for insurance, very good price
