Scotland Trip for Easter? Good idea?

Hi guys,

Hard to know what the weather will be up to TBH. If you do go, though, i'd recommend visiting the Isle of Arran. It's a very pretty place and is only 2hrs(1hr by train, 1hr by ferry) from Glasgow.

Edinburgh is usually recommended, it has a few sights like the castle and various old buildings, plenty of hostels, good nightlife and the people are friendly.

Also a trip up loch ness is scenic and worth while.

Hi Santosh, you certainly are leaving it quite late! I agree with andy11, Edinburgh is a great city with plenty to see and do. Is the holiday just for adults or will children also be going? Claire

Thanks guys. I'm booked on a 3 night trip to Glasgow (to start) and will take it from there. Cost me a bit .. but i guess its the best i can get this late!

Thanks Claire. Its just me and my wife

How are you getting there? The roads between the West Midlands (M6) and Glasgow (M6/A74M) or the South (A1) to Edinburgh (A1) and across to Glasgow (M8) are so busy over Easter. Of the two routes, if you're going by road and travelling from the South, I'd recommend the A1 and across and not the West coast route. It's usually much quieter than the West coast route - and although further by road, it'll be quicker.
Places to see (now the clocks have gone forward, it's much lighter in Scotland than in the South at night)....
If you're staying over in Glasgow, then a night in town for sure. The pubs are much more entertaining than in Edinburgh, then a day in Edinburgh itself - a great city and another day out to Loch Lomond. It only takes an hour or so from Glasgow City Centre to lakeside and feels like a miliion miles away from any city. After that, I'll let others advise on more to see - except 'Do' try and get to Skye if you can. It's now just a bridge, the ferry has gone and as all tolls have been scrapped in Scotland, there's no cost to cross it either.

Thanks Claire. Its just me and my wife

Hi Santosh - Did you manage to book anywhere at short notice? I'm planning on heading up North myself for the Easter weekend.....despite the promise of snow!

Claire

...despite the promise of snow!

Snow in April? Surely not? Even for the Highlands that's bad...

Thanks Claire. Its just me and my wife

Heading to Glasgow in a few hours ... If things get rough ... I will settle for beer or whisky which I guess isn't that bad
Any must-sees, please let me know!
