Boats quit running after dark when I was on Railay Beach. But they are now from Ao Na Mao to Railay until midnight. 15 minutes, 60 baht/person.
Emma, it looks like you can have dinner with your friends and still stay at Railay Beach. Good luck with your planning.

As you probably know, most of the BP type beach huts were ripped out years ago. Nice, more expensive resorts were built on Railay, not much budget left. Here is a of what I could find in the area. I hope a member that has been to Railay recently will chime in with a suggestion.
One option if you cannot find anything on Railay in your price range is stay at Ao Nang, day trip Railay. Here is that won't break your budget.
