So I've done a whole lot of research about taking a pet abroad and think I have it all sorted. However, I'd like to know if anyone has taken a dog from a non-EU country into the EU.
Hey Ofelia! Unfortunately, I don't have any helpful advice to give, but I want to say THEY HAVE LITTLE DOGGY PASSPORTS?? The cuteness factor is overwhelming me... I had no idea! Do they put her picture in it (no doubt with tongue flopping out the side) and put little stamps in it when she enters a country???

But certainly. She does indeed have a little doggy passport, with a photo, and, more importantly, her microchip number, owner's details and vaccination and de-worming details.
I got her home now, and it was fine- a doggy plane ticket cost 50€, although this obviously varies between airlines, and she travelled in the cabin with me as she's a puppy (under 8 kilograms). The paperwork was the hardest part, but actually flying and sorting things with the airline was far easier than I thought!

No, that is not true. (And, yes all things are well, Michael. )
There is no age limit as to when a puppy can be infected by the rabies virus. An infected pregnant female can pass the virus on to the puppies through the birth canal. It just more common to happen in feral dogs than in those with owners. Again, the percentages are very, very low. I mean very low (as in 0.00X%).
When a puppy can be vaccinated against rabies is dictated more by local laws than the age of the animal. In Ofelia's case, and the country of the dog's origin, that time period was 12 weeks. In the US, each state has it's own regulations. Some require rabies to be administered at 8 weeks while others say 6 months for the first inoculation. Illinois law requires it by the age of 6 months but does not dictate a minimum age. While working at the vet clinic, we administered rabies as young as 3 weeks because the puppies were being transported by air and the airline required it for all animals regardless of age.
