Brazil to The Guyanas

I'm in Bolivia, making my way west to Santa Cruz.
Then I want to go back to Brazil and make my way up to French Guyana and on to Suriname and Guyana and on to Venezuala.
Has anyone done this trip before, Brazil to Fr. Guyana?

My plans have changed, sort of. I'm still going from Bazil to Fr. Guyana, just the time that I do the trip will be shorter.

I've gone from Paraguay back to Puerto Iguazu, Argentina. I'm going on to Brazil and then up to Fr. Guyana.

But in the meantime I've found out that the European Space Agency are due to launch a rocket from Fr. Guyana on the 03rd August so the race is on to get there in time and see it.

So I made to French Guyana from Brazil.
The last bit of my journey was Brasilia to Belem by bus, took over 36 hours, should have taken 32-33.

Then took a boat from Belem to Macapa. Amazing experience being on the Amazon, no wildlife really to be seen but still incredible sunsets etc and locals rowing their canoes on the river.

Next was a bus over the craziest road from Macapa to Oiapoque in Brazil, boat across the river to St. George de Oyapoque in Fr Guyana. They`re building a bridge at the moment which I saw under construction. It will change the experience for people travelling to this part of the world.

If anyone is coming this way there`s no need to get a taxi from Oiapoque, Brazil bus station to the Policia Federal station in Oiapoque. Just turn left as you exit the bus sataion and it`s a mile down the road. Taxi drivers look for 10Reais for this short distance which is a rip off.

When you come out of the Policia station just continue down the street and that`s where the boats are.
Then a minibus to Cayenne.
Space shuttle launch that I posted about previously is still on for tomorrow, so hopefully I get to see it frm the beach in Kouru.

Interesting trip and thanks for sharing.

It's on my list to travel the Guyana's and maybe visit Belem and surroundings as well. I love the Amazone Rainforest in general.
How's the road from Macapa north? Is it still like 24 hours or so which I have read before?

The bus north from Macapa to Oiapoque took about 14 hours.

The road is pretty good for the first 3 hours of the trip as it goes to a small city.
Then it gets bad, it`s going through the jungle really, so you`re being thrown around every so often.

Because it`s at night I couldn`t see much.

I`d advise anyone doing this trip to do it during the day, you would see so much.

The company I used charge 65Reais, pretty old crappy bus with no toilet, even though said there would be one. We did stop every few hours though.

There is another company that do the route as well and they charge 57Reais.
