I am planning of flying from Athens to Budapest on the 31st of Aug but I found out recently that no low-cost airline flies that route (300++ euros) and trains are going to take 2 days at least.Anyone who has any idea how to get there that's not so expensive and will not take up so much time?Thanks!!!

You can see that it's an impossible question, right? Flight's too expensive, train's too long. What are you hoping for? Low cost transporter beam? Underground zumba flume? Richard Branson to pick you up in a heli?

Have you looked into booking it as two flights on a low-cost airline?
If you check out www.tuifly.com, a german cheap flight website, you can fly from Athens to Stuttgart in the morning, and then Stuttgart to Budapest in the evening. It would take you all day, but it would only cost 183.00 Euros.
Or you could do Athens-Berlin, Berlin-Budapest on Easyjet for 124.98 Euros, but you would have to stay over in Berlin.
Look into those kind of options on some of the other low-cost airlines, you might find something that works.
