Cheap country to study and live

I'm a Canadian student with about a year of high school left.

You might be able to get a job teaching English in Asia. Although most countries require you to have a university degree, you can sometimes get around that. If you get a good job in a place like South Korea, you will be able to save a lot of money (at least $1.000/month). Be careful, though- some of the private schools don't deliver all of what they promise. In many Asian countries, including China and South Korea, a contract is just a piece of paper, and as a foreigner, you have no legal recourse. Make sure you have an open return ticket, at the very least

Anyone has experience with having an internet job, such as web designer, and earning money in the form of a strong currency and living in a country with advantageous exchange rates?

It doesnt come any cheaper than in Eastern Europe for everything. Food, a bed, travel, beer - its all cheap and very plentiful. Theyre crying out for foreign language teachers too, but you will need the right paperwork before you can get work. If you can get in with an English/Western Europe company, you'll get a good wage too.
Two excellent countries that are cheap and looking for language teachers are Bulgaria and Romania. Bulgaria is the cheaper of the two - overall.

I have friend from India who went to American university in Slovakia and they saved a lot of money. The cost of the university was very low comparing to what they would pay in USA, and they got the same degree. They also worked in evenings and weekends helping tourists in the city - like tour guide. This might be good if you speak languages to help Italian visitors etc.

University was the city university and is in Bratislava and another city in Slovakia in Trencin. I think they are in Bulgaria too.
