Does anybody know what the best route from Krabi to Koh Tao? No flights. Is there a train? Bus then ferry? Anybody know the schedule of the transportation and ferry. Possibly some information to where to find that information.
There is no train from Krabi to Surat Thani. I would get over to the bus station just outside of Krabi town. Buses run every hour heading for BKK, stopping at Surat. Figure 3 hours. Here is a to Koh Tao. As I read it, you will need to catch the ferry to Samui, then Phangan, on to KT. Or take the night ferry and arrive in the early am. Or take the bus on to Chumphon and ferry from there. Good luck with your planning.
If I remember rightly the government bus drops you some ways from the ferry at Surat Thani, so then you have to get on over to the ferry port. There is a travel agent on Phi Phi that is run by a couple of British girls, they are really helpful and honest. Maybe drop them an email and ask them and they may recommend a private bus company that includes your ferry ticket.

Hey either way you go, if you have the time, look into stopping at Khoa Sok National Park. Check out my pictures of it to see why, its stunning!

Roger is right, you do have to get from Surat Thani to the ferry. However, you will have time as you cannot get to ST in time for the 8:00am ferry. Next one is afternoon or the overnight ferry. I would check with a travel shop in Krabi once there. There maybe minivans that go to ST and then on to the ferry. I have been on minivans before and choose not to use them again. Too many of the drivers take stupid risks IMO. I want as much metal as possible around me when on the roads of Thailand. Check the ferry times. Your best bet maybe to go on to Chumphon and take the ferry from there.
Good luck with your planning.
