a friend and i are in cambodia for about 10 days in september and because of the time frame are concidering doing some of the trip on motor bikes i hear the roads sihonoukville-PP-siam reap are ok, anyone have a clue about prices (hire) and some pros/cons, we both have a little experience on bikes in SE asia/south america, i just think it would be a fun, quick and flexible way to cover the land
Danny,
I have rented 100cc motorbikes many times in PP and Sihanoukville. They won't cut it for highway travel. What you need are the large 250cc off road bikes. They were renting for about $10/day, but that was years ago.
My suggestion is to use buses from PP to S'ville, and PP to SR. Rent bikes once there to explore that area. It is pretty dangerous to be out there riding the main highway with the all trucks and buses. Good luck with your planning.
