China and Japan in 20 days

hey. I'm going to China and Japan for about 20 days and I've been reading and reading about these places but can't get anywhere much with it. It's so much better to get views of travellers.
where do you think I should go.. I'm thinking 2 places in china and 2 in japan.
At the moment my 2 places are: beijing and shanghai and tokyo and osaka
any opinions?

Japan - Tokyo and Kyoto with maybe a stop at Mt. Fuji if you have the time.

Is it easy to travel from tokyo to kyoto.. how're the trains? they expensive? I'm thinking.. maybe I'll buy the train ticket on the day itself. A return ticket to kyoto from tokyo. Any idea how much that'll be?

Hey, Beijing and Shanghai are primary stops for first time China visitors. You will need to spend at least 7 days to get around BJ, since it's a big city with attractions widely spreading out.

If you are into history and culture exploring, you will fall in love with BJ instantly, despite the high humidity and heat during summer months. I perosonally wound't recommend Shanghai, since it hard to aparts Shanghai from other large cities in the world.

You don't need to worry a thing about safety issue while travelling in Beijing and Shanghai or other cities in China. Safe for locals and safer for foreigners. Pocketpicking is common in crowd public places such as on the buses, subways and shopping malls. Wear your backpack in front of your chest while travelling on public transports and make sure all the pockets are zipped.

Variety of accom. are offered in BJ, prices are from usd$20-100. with the $20 ones, it's still possible to have buildin shower

Hope the above helps.
