Interesting...help explain please

Hi,
On GOL's website (Brazilian Airline) I noticed this:

SecureCode is this "extra" password-system for Mastercard creditcards, which banks need to opt-in to separately, I believe. I'm hazy on the details, just know it's a horribly designed system, inviting phishing (because participating websites are encouraged to include an iframe to the mastercard website (or open it in a minimal new window), where users are expected to blindly enter this password, without many of the usual browser indications that that website is really the correct one), and that it's getting hard to avoid. (The visa equivalent "verified by visa" is just as bad. .)
Websites are encouraged to sign up by making them wholly responsible for fradulent creditcard transactions if they don't (if they do, then the owner of the creditcard is assumed to be responsible, because obviously with a system designed by the creditcard companies, it becomes impossible for criminals to steal this second password!</sarcasm> ). It also gives the creditcard companies a lot more knowledge about what you're buying than the old way in which things were set up, which is likely to be their primary motivation for pushing these extra passwords so much, all under the guide of "security". Urgh.

Anyway, with that knowledge, the second line probably just was intended to specify that if you're using a mastercard creditcard and don't want to use this "SecureCode" system (or aren't with a bank which enables using it), you can't book flights there - but it doesn't remove the possibility of paying with a Visa creditcard.

Oh, and "installments are not allowed" just means you have to pay the entire amount in one go, and can't do it with a "monthly installment plan", where you'd pay a little bit each month over the next couple of years.

Thanks Sander,
Guess it's extremely useful to know this and somehow ok GOL put's in on their website. Too bad that for many people it's hard to understand. But thanks again for clearifying things up a bit.
But do I understand it correctly that paying GOL with visa does not include the SecureCode system in this case? So only when using Mastercard?
Cheers
Michael.
