I'm planning on arriving in Cairns on my own sometime towards the end of October and beginning of November. My plan is to find work in Cairns for a few months though so I can apply for my 2nd working holiday visa and then head down the east coast! Unfortunately means I'll miss being in Sydney for NYE but hopefully the year after I'll be able to do it!
I'd like to do some bar work too. You can do the required training in most cities from what I've read and it's done within the day. I think if you look hard enough you'll find work..always the case I think!

I think we're hoping to do the licence as soon as we get to Cairns, then at least as we travel along we'll be prepared should we need to start working earlier than anticipated.... Let's hope not tho!
I suppose until you're out there doing it you just don't know what's going to happen!
So are you going to do the fruit picking so you can stay another year?

Yea i have booked 14nights over xmas and ny at Wake up Sydney!! Had to get in there fast as everywhere was getting booked up very quickly. Im very excited now :-)
Me, my girlfriend and a mate will be leaving for Australia (with a cheeky detour to Thailand) on the 10/10/10 (believe it or not, at 10pm; however, travelling with BA, so who knows!).
I am also counting down the days, even made a little counter on the side of my travel blog () to prove it :P

If you are looking at Bar Work as a possibility, a small and easy thing to know ( if you don't already of course ) .
Different states have different rules and codes of conduct for Alcohol.
The certificate gained in Queensland won't be able to be used in Northern Terroritory, New South Wales, Victoria, Southern Australia and Western Australia.
I think the 6 states ( 7 if you count the ACT as well ) all have a certificate unique to that state.

I travel out to sydney October 5th im there for a month before i travel up the coast to brisbane to play abit of footy (rugby league) if anyone wants to meet up for a bbq on the beach and a few drinks msg me im going alone kind of scary but by the looks of it alot of people are doing the same. looking forward to meeting some great people. Soooo many things to sort out, luggage, insurance, clothes, money, bank account, mobile etc etc, where we're going to go, work... good lord!
