improving Indonesia itinerary

Hi,

I would spend another day in Bandung and a day less in Yogyakarta. Bali is a tourist trap full of people trying to sell you stuff you don't want and pick pockets. I would spend a few days in Jakarta. Possibly in one of the many travel agents in Bali you can pick up a day or two day return flight to Flores?

Hi,
I am from Jogjakarta. I think for Jogjakarta trip, you can make for 3 days. Tht's enough time. And if you wanna go to Solo, make it in 1 day trip.
Take train from train station in Jogja, morning time. If i m not mistaken, there is train around 8 am.
The journey takes 1 hour more or less.
After reaching Solo train station (name : Balapan), many taxi driver or rental car will offer you. Dont forget to bargain. Last time (few months ago) i did bargain for one simple car to rent include the driver for 1 day at the price 275000 IDR (more or less 28 USD).
Please check the train schedule for going back to Jogjakarta from Solo.
Happy traveling

That's a rather sweeping statement to make about Bali. Of course there are people trying to sell things and make a living, and there are bound to be pickpockets just like anywhere else in the world (although I didn't hear of anyone being pickpocketed when I was there) but Bali has a lot to offer both in terms of natural and cultural attractions. I loved it there and never had any issues with crime or security.

Ubud is a good place to base yourself as you can do plenty of trips from there; you could also consider Lovina if you want to spend a few days by the beach.

I agree with just one day in Jakarta - probably my least favourite Asian city so far.

Greetings from Indonesia!

I'd say to spend less day in Bali and perhaps go to Lombok island by ferry.

As a Jakartan, I'd agree to spend 1 day here. Depends on what your interests are.
We have not a lot to be proud of. But not so bad for entertainment.

Have a safe journey in my country.
Cheers,

Hello

I think that in order to get a trip to Flores during your time in Indonesia it might be best to possibly cut out a day if not two in Yogyakarta + Solo and cut down your time in Ubud + Kuta/Tuban ((with trips to Bedugal, Besaki, Uluwatu, etc, etc)

You will then be able to get a flight from Denpasar to Maumere or Labuan Bajo on Flores. You can then arrange a day trip to Komodo Island from Labuan Bajo.

I wouldn't spend that much time in Jakarta unless you have to really. There isn't that much to do in the city as it is the economic capital. I think that if you are travelling to that area it is best to spend some time in Bogor which is a nice peaceful place to the east of Jakarta.

Hi,
I think you are trying to do too much in 35 days. Indonesia is a third world country with no real infrastructure so you will experience delays which will throw this very very limited time schdeule into chaos.
Staying only 3 days in Kalimantan is really just not worth the effort unless you cut a few days off Bali.
Bali is a small island and you can see all you need to see in about 5-7 days.

Pamela who is gearing up for my 10 th visit to Indonesia next year. Spent 5.5 months wandering around in 2006, spending 35 days alone in Java, 3.5 months in Sumatra west and north and 18 days in Aceh, 6 days in south Sulawesi, 5 days in Kuta south Lombok and the odd transit day in Bali.
