Try Trailfinders for tickets to New Zealand as I have always found them to be the cheapest. A round the world will normally work out more expensive but obviously you have the benefits of being able to see more destinations.
A RTW ticket would be fine to enter New Zealand on - they just want you to have a ticket out of the country. If you have a working holiday visa though you do not need an onward ticket when you enter NZ.
Air Asia has cheap tickets from the UK to Aus, then look up virgin blue or jetstar for onward ticket to NZ. If you don't know when you'll leave NZ you'll either have to buy a ticket from NZ to probably Sydney, or jetstar is doing cheap tickets to Gold coast at the moment. Or buy a fully refundable ticket and cancel it when you hit NZ.
I just took a quick look and various dates through Oct will give you various prices. Nov might be better, but you have to check prices on all days to find their promo prices. Oct 24th you can get a flight from Stanstead UK to K/L for 210GBP then fly on to Aus for 160AUD then flights to NZ run about 140AUD
I seem to remember that Air Malaysia are quite good for cheap tickets.
Thank you for all the help so far, I have been looking around and it seems buying separate tickets seems to be the cheapest option. Just wondered if I would need a visa to stop over in certain countries/cities, such as Singapore, Australia or anywhere?
As a UK passport holder you do not need a visa for Singapore but you will need one for Australia. You can apply for this online on the . It used to be called an ETA but it looks like it's now an that you need to apply for.
