A friend and I are heading to SE Asia in November for 3 months. We will be starting in Bangkok and heading to Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and then back into Thailand. Just looking for advice on which border crossing are the best to use, and how to go about getting Visas etc?!? Is it recommended to get visas before you go or whilst your there?
Hyey im doing same thing in oct but for 6 months. Got a double entry visa for Thailand that last six months. Gonna get my Cambodia Evisa which lasts three months before I go. then get my Vietnam visa in Camboadia - this is my plans so far visa wise
I've been having the same differculty. I was looking at getting a double-entry visa but i dont have a onward ticket at the moment.
What im doing is buying a onward tix from thai to either viet/laos/cam which means i qualify for 30 free visa entry and then when i return back to thai for xmas onland i get another free 15 day visa.
I've printed out the visa forms for Vietnam and India already so i just plan to fill them in and apply before i fly over.
You can get visa at the crossin in Cambodia and Laos, they cost but from what ive read its easy enough to get one. I think its just Vietnam u will need to sort out before u get there.
Its not to complicated ( i say that now) the visa form is literally one sheet.
I know friendship bridge is one crossing, but thats all i knwo.

If you are flying into VN, the 'visa on arrival' really is the best way to go. covers my flight into Tan Son Nhat.
hey bud.. I've signed up for my Vietnam passport already.. It cost me $25 bucks for this part of it.. then another 20 at the crossing or airport.. It took a few minutes to fill this out online.. and I get my visa confirmation letter a few days later.. hope this helps..

It will all depend on the route you plan...when i did it I got a 60 day visa for Thailand before hand..then got Cambodia, and Laos at the border crossing and Vietnam one on route(in Vientienne Laos)....when I got back into Thailand i got only a 15 day visa at the border....as the rules had just changed....while i was traveling!! Think the multi entry visa for Thaialnd is a great idea! have fun!
